Assign classroom jobs in one click
Classroom jobs work best when everyone knows who's doing what. Put your jobs in the first box and your students in the second — type them or paste a list — and press Assign jobs. Each job is given to a random student and the results appear as cards: Line Leader — Ava, Door Holder — Ben, and so on. There's no need to spin a wheel once for every job.
Rotate classroom jobs each week
When it's time for a change, press New week. You get a fresh random assignment, and the tool tries to avoid giving anyone the same job they had last week. Only last week's chart is remembered, and only on this device. With some combinations — for example one job and one student — a repeat can't be avoided, so treat this as a best effort rather than a guarantee.
What happens when there are more students than jobs
Every job is assigned once, and the remaining students are listed clearly under No job this week, so nobody disappears from the chart. When you press New week, students who had no job last week are given priority for a job this time, wherever the numbers allow.
What happens when there are more jobs than students
Every student gets one job first. The extra jobs are then shared out one at a time, so no student ends up with several extra jobs while others have only one. A small group with a long job list might see some students with two jobs and others with one.
Edit the job list for your classroom
The sample jobs are a starting point. Rename them, add jobs such as Calendar Helper or Lunch Monitor, and delete the ones you don't use. If you change the jobs or the class list after assigning, the old chart is cleared and you assign again; last week's memory simply ignores names and jobs that are no longer on your lists.
Display the classroom job chart
Press Present to show the whole chart as large cards on a projector or smartboard, or Copy assignments to paste a plain-text version into your planner, a newsletter or a printed chart. For calling on one student during a lesson, use the random student picker; for turn-taking in rounds, the classroom wheel; and for splitting the class into groups, the random team generator.
Privacy for student names
Student names, jobs and assignments stay in this browser on this device. They aren't uploaded, stored on our servers or sent to analytics. Assignments are chosen with your browser's secure random generator; they're random, not judged for fairness.
Questions
Can I avoid giving the same student the same job twice in a row?
New week tries to avoid giving anyone the same job as last week whenever it's possible. With some combinations of students and jobs a repeat can't be avoided, so it's a best effort rather than a guarantee.
What if I have more students than classroom jobs?
Every job is still assigned, and the remaining students are shown under No job this week. When you press New week, it tries not to leave the same students without a job again.
